Winchester's Class

IBM representatives will visit our classroom and teach a science lesson.  The representatives will bring water samples from a variety of sources for their lesson.  Students are invited to bring their own water samples, but are not required to.  Potential sources include ponds, streams, puddles etc.  (Samples need to be about four ounces.)

Our trip to Colchester Pond will be on June 6.  (Not May 6.)

The Winooski Valley Park District has invited Mrs. Buswell’s class and our class to Colchester Pond on May 6.  Our mission will be to learn about and help to remove invasive plant species.  As soon as I have details about times I will let everybody know.

Please note our district’s policy requiring that all chaperones  complete the background check.

-Wednesday’s participation in the Winooski Valley Park District Field Day was a great success.  Student’s experienced five engaging stations in addition to being treated to a demonstration by a working dog.

-In math students collected data by measuring their heart rate before and during exercise.  Students graphed the data.

-Students completed their Scott O’Dell books this week and completed their last literature circles of the year.

-In writing we have been enjoying poetry.  You may view student work on the Young Writers Project site.

Families, please watch for the current event assignment in your child’s Friday folder.  Three current events must be completed.  The due dates are 5/19, 5/26 & 6/2.  Thank you.

5/18 Students travel by bus to attend the Winooski Valley Park District Conservation Field Day.

The class is quite excited to have a pajama day on Friday, April 1.  It should be fun!

Please mark your calendar.  Mrs. Buswell and I will be taking our classes to Fort Ti on June 8th.  There is no limit on the number of chaperons that may join us.  A permission slip and details of the trip will be sent home as we get closer to the trip.

Today students received a biography project assignment .  A copy of the assignment and the scoring rubric should come home tonight.  Most of the reading will be done in class, but the poster project will be completed at home.  While I have tried to be clear with my directions please let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you.
